Bernardine Artuso

Singing Teacher Bernardine is a highly skilled musician and teacher. Originally from Australia, Bernardine moved to the UK as a teenager, where she gained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Popular Music at The University of Leeds, and a Masters Degree in Composition of Music from The University of Bristol.

She has a well-rounded knowledge and appreciation of musical genres, as she first trained classically, but has also performed with several Bristol and Devon jazz, rock and folk groups.

Vocally, she has trained with national ambassadors during her time working with the 'Sing Up' Programme at Plymouth Music Zone, and as a soloist and choir member with 'The Lost Sound Chorus'.

Bernardines time in Devon kick started a love of song-writing and arranging music, and she has been an active performer, composer and musical director for theatre venues and film and TV production companies, such as; Aardman Animations, Glastonbury and Port Elliot Festivals, Dartington Barn Cinema, Plymouth Barbican Theatre and The Theatre Royal.

Bernardine moved to Derbyshire in early 2018 and is already really impressed with the local music scene. Bernardine is a multi-instrumentalist and she teaches Singing, Piano, Guitar, Violin & Ukulele. She really enjoys developing people of all ages and abilities in their achievement of musical and personal confidence and self-expression. She firmly believes in the diverse benefits that studying music provides, such as; individual discipline, focus, relaxation, routine, connection, knowledge, identity, accreditation & employment. Music also has the wider ability to add gravitas to important events, enhance memories, increase social cohesion and create cultural awareness.
